The introduction of the Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page Combo sets has really advanced the art of punching in the card making and scrap booking communities.
The sets have 2 punches in them - a straight edge border punch and a co-ordinating corner punch. By using the 2 punches in tandem you can now create a continuous pattern around the edge of any background paper or cardstock.
The beauty of the Combo Set is that both punches work independently of each other so if you just want to use the border punch to decorate one edge of your card you can, or, you can just use the corner punch to decorate the corners. The clever design of the corner punch means that you can also punch at a fold line if you are punching an actual card.
If you want to punch around the page you simply punch all the corners first and then use the edge punch to connect the pattern from corner to corner. The edge punch has guides printed on wings and you use these to align the pattern to make sure it all matches up.
There are a whole range of designs available, and as this snapshot of a card shows they can really make a difference to your work, especially when used as a matt around a rubber stamped image.
To see the card in its entirety go to Linda's Handmade Card.
The punches are good quality and will no doubt prove to be a sound investment as they can be used time and time again.
